Current Activity – a new pepper plugin for Mint was just released. This pepper enables you to observe which pages are currently being browsed and which ip address they are being browsed by. Installation as follows:

  1. Download Tuupola_CurrentActivity-latest.tar.gz and uncompress it. Windows users with broken WinZip might need to save the file to desktop before uncompressing.
  2. Upload the resulting currentactivity/ directory and its contents to mint/pepper/tuupola/ If the directory tuupola/ does not exists, create it first.
  3. Login to your Mint installation and in the Preferences click Install
    under Pepper.
  4. Click the Current Activity Pepper Install button. Acknowledge by clicking Okay.
  5. Additionally click Current Activity and adjust the timespan. This controls how long back the pepper will consider activity to be recent. Save new settings by clicking Done.

Q: Why a new plugin? Doesn’t the Most Recent Pages pane in the default pepper do the same?
A: No. Current Activity groups the requests by ip address.

Q: I want to see canonical hostnames instead of plain ip address!
A: Optional address resolving will be added in next version. Due to cost of this operation it will default to being off.

Q: What extra does this pepper log?
A: Nothing. It just adds a new way to browse the data.

Q: I installed the pepper and now I get a blank page!!
A: Current Activity was developed with Mint 1.1. and it most likely will not work with earlier versions.

Q: Can I see the source, please?
A: Yes. Current CVS version as phps or as txt.
