Beddy, beddy interesting.

I know of a company here in Tokyo that claims to have a patent pending on 
exactly that model, though not limited to coupons.

It's a cool idea, though someone else had told me they had looked into 
doing something similar but found that barcodes couldn't be read accurately 
from a cell-phone screen. Looks like they were mistaken.

On a similar note, regular readers will remember Michael Turner's thoughts 
from late last year on using bar-code scanners embedded in wireless 
devices. Of course we all though he was nuts. And probably he is, but 
apparently so are Motorola, who have formed a joint venture with a couple 
of other companies to do pretty well exactly what Michael was talking
