The N71 is S60 2nd edition, not third edition, whereas I believe that the
N73 is 3rd edition. I have both types of phones, and can say that 3rd
editions phones are much less flexible in which applications it allows you
to install. In 2nd editions you can use the 'application manager'
application to give applications the necessary permissions to run properly,
because it actually lets you install the application. On 3rd edition,
because installing unsigned applications is basically impossible, there is
no workaround, except to use signed applications. I believe there is a
signed version of the gmail application, but can't be sure of that. Most
serious software vendors of S60 applications are now signing.
