FYI.

I think he means "Web" not "Internet", especially considering email
goes out over the Internet.
Still waiting for a response on that.

Hello Mr. Kuroda:
I apologize for being late in responding to your question.
The cell phone figures that Media Metrix Japan announced on 1st June
was the
numbers of the cell phone users that actually accessed Internet in the
past
30 days, and the important point is that we exclude the number of
users who
uses cell phones only for emails. The figures that are publicly
available
about Japan cell phone users are mainly numbers of registration. Hope
this
clarifies enough.

Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you.

Regards,

Greetings, I am renfield kuroda from Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Japan.

I am a little confused:
http://www.mediametrix.com/usa/press/releases/20000601.jsp
"Total cell phone users: 1.8 million"

Last I counted, the number of cellular phones, at near 60 million,
surpassed the number of fixed lines. Perhaps you meant the number of
web-enabled cellular phones, but that number is about 10 million, with
over 7 million I-Mode users alone.

Clarification of this 1.8 million would be appreciated.

Thanks,
