I have tested a 111x106 pixel image and it does scroll. If 106 pixels is the
physical screen height then a non-scrolling image must be smaller when the
function menu and status display text at the top and bottom of the screen
are included. My testing results in an actual no-scroll image height of 77
pixels.

The question is are DoCoMo's specs wrong just for the NM502i or are all
phones effected? This throws a spanner in the works of smart image displays
if they are.

You can test your phone's real-world specs with a test site I have made at
http://www.X-9.com/i/

The actual physical display size is 111x106 pixels -- make a gif image that
size, stick it on the web, and view it on the phone and you'll see it just
fills
up the screen.

However, the "stand-by screen" size is smaller because the phone limits
image
size during standby for whatever reason. Try saving that same 111x106 image
as a
standby screen and you'll see it gets squished down and doesn't take up the
whole screen.
