No doubt as a result of the Keitai-L party:

TOKYO (Nikkei)--The number of subscribers to the i-mode mobile phone service
of NTT DoCoMo Inc. (9437) topped 20 million on Sunday, two years after its
launch on February 22, 1999, the company announced.

Subscribers to the service, which allows e-mailing and viewing of Web sites
via the Internet, now total 20,015,270.

The service has been a driving force behind the fast spread of cell phones
in Japan, with 40,000-50,000 new subscribers joining up every day. With no
sign of the pace slowing, company officials are expecting continued growth.

In January, NTT DoCoMo started a new i-appli service for downloading Java
applications to i-mode phones.

I-mode will be launched in Europe in September by NTT DoCoMo's European
partner and is also expected to become the main service for next-generation
3G cell phones, which NTT DoCoMo will introduce in Japan at the end of May,
ahead of its global competitors. The advanced handsets can send and receive
large amounts of data, including video.

At the end of January, KDDI, officially known as DDI Corp. (9433), had some
5,650,000 subscribers for its similar EZweb cell phone service, while
subscribers to the J-Phone group's J-Sky service amounted to some 5,010,000.
