the age distribution of i-mode users is almost a useless figure now since
almost all new docomo subscribers and almost all existing subscribers who
trade in a new phone subscribe to i-mode. in other words, i-mode subscribers
equal docomo subscribers. the real issue is who is subscribing to the
contents services and thus actually using i-mode. when you look at this
data, people under 25 dominate the entertainment contents like ringing
tones, screen savers, games, horoscopes, and even music information services
like tsutaya online's service. however, for news and other contents, people
over 30 represent a large percent of the subscribers. thus we can see that
as i-mode evolves from entertainment contents to other contents, the real
i-mode users (not i-mode subscribers) will also evolve away from young
people. by the way, i posted this data a few months ago.
