Just a quick note: The IrDA and Bluetooth protocol stacks are basically
identical, so there really is little reason note to include both types of
interface in a device. Most people do not realize it,  but IrDA is a
network, not point to point, communications media.
IR has a number of distinct advantages over RF in certain situations, the
reverse is true in others.
