I sold a whole bunch of old keitais (DoCoMo, J-Phone and PHS) on Yahoo
Auctions Japan. I don't know whether the buyers reconnected those phones
or they bought them as collector items (the Japanese appear to collect
all kinds of things) or toys for their kids or whatever, but clearly
there was a demand for those phones. I think I remember that one buyer
reconnected the phone or said that they wanted to, but I just shipped
those phones as they were and left anything else up to the buyers. If
anyone reconnected them, I didn't have to get involved at all.

You won't get much for it, though. Most of the ones I sold, I put up for
100 yen and typically bids were going up to 1000 - 1500 yen. A DoCoMo
Nokia phone even went for more.
