And with the Nokia 6600 it's even worst!
The HTTP connection may work fine but as that phone uses no Gateway or Proxy
when executing midlets, with some operator it will be imposible for average
users to execute applications with HTTP access using a Nokia 6600.

I'm talking about all Series 60 phones.

HTTP access in Java will fail after 12 or so packets IF you don't have a
direct connect (0.0.0.0) gateway setup. The fact that this works for
the first 10 or so I/O attempts via. the default WAP gateway and then
fails is a major bug IMHO.

What's worse is that some of the carriers don't publish the correct
information about this. We had a potential business deal with a
Canadian company, and we could never get a direct connect gateway to
work.

We are working on a SMS Push of the settings ... would love to have a
real-world example.

Are you talking about the 3650 or the N-Gage here? You can send the
settings
for GPRS WAP, GPRS Internet or even just a plain dialup GSM WAP gateway
to
people over the air if you want to make it easier to configure someone's
handset for this. Even a normal WAP gateway configuration is usually
okay
for many non-WAP uses, we've found.

True ... but if you want to do Internet capable games (i.e. multiplayer)
the
user is forced to setup a HTTP gateway and it's A PAIN to do so.

Really a big problem. I've lost a deal because of this.

	Yesterdays news:

	http://www.club-siemens.net/preview/ngage/

What makes this surprising is that I also was under impression
that N-Gage had special hardware which allowed the games
to run. The truth seems to be even plain 3650 can run the
	N-Gage games.
