Some extra info:

MPEG-4 is ISO standard 14496.
You can buy the CD containing the reference software from ISO.

The standard convention in MPEG-4 world is to use the extension .m4a for
MPEG-4 Audio Elementary Stream files and the extension .m4v for MPEG-4 Video
Elementary Stream files.
These files contain just the audio or video data in a compressed format.

The MP4 file format however is a container designed for storing multiple
audio + video Elementary streams with inter-stream synchronization so that
things like video and the corresponding audio play in sync. To my
understanding .3gp is based on the MP4 fil format.

So renaming .m4a to mp4 or .3gp may not work or rather should not work.

Googling for a MP4 file generator might help.
Apple used to be a source for such tools in MPEG committee world.

Another note is that the .m4a file could contain audio encoded using one of
several possible codecs.
Music is usually encoded using the MPEG-4 AAC codec.
Your phone would need support for the appropriate codec to use the files.

... just thoughts from time spent in the MPEG world.

I don't know anything about this phone, so this is a shot in the dark based
on playing around with my 702NK....

Try renaming the .m4a files to .mp4
if that does not work try renaming them to .3gp.
If that does not work, I THINK quicktime pro can convert to 3gp...

Nick

When i put .m4a files in /SHARP/VOICE folder, the music player on the phone
doesnt recognise it.

Thanks
Darren
