Hi Simon,

I wouldn't be /surprised/ if European i-mode phones of Japanese origin 
run ITRON, specially if the CPU is Japanese... but, I would be more 
hesitatnt to apply it to all phones.. I guess companies would most 
likely continue to work with what they have familiarity with. Given the 
popularity of ITRON on Japanese phones, it's likely that their 
"Japan-like" handsets may re-use the code they have developed... but I 
may be out on a limb here.. :(

FWIW, I saw a phone from Benq (the company that just bought out Siemens' 
mobilephone business) at CommunicAsia that was based on the Renesas 
SH-Mobile processor and it ran ITRON...
