Hello,
Well I went to the i-menu today and had to check out the new i-area option
= )
My initial reactions are it is going to be very useful, at least for your
first couple of times in a new area.
Since I live further out on the first screen in the first option for the
area it lists the my location along with a few other areas. Thus, it does
not say option one Fujisawa only, but instead Hiratsuka,Fujisawa, Chigasaki,
and Ennoshima. I wonder if you are in a large area, such as Shinjuku, if
it will only state Shinjuku? It then lists other areas somewhat near me as
the other options and finally information about the Odakyu-sen (my main
train line).

So when I click on the Fujisawa option it gives me 3 free menu options and 2
fee services.
The 3 free services are WNI weather, iMapFan, and gourmet navi. The fee
services are zenrin map and atis traffic information.
For fun I hit the weather information and at the top it lists the locations
from option one (Hiratsuka,Fujisawa, etc...) but under the weather
information it lists my location Fujisawa. So it knows where I am, it is
just that Fujisawa and the other locations do not have much going on so they
clump them together (maybe)

The iMapFan service is pretty good and the Gourmet Navi is really cool.
Unfortunately it lists shops that are in all of the areas of my option (I do
not particularly want to go to Hiratsuka if I am Fujisawa, but then again if
a cool shop is there I might...) so I have to filter a bit more information
out.

I have not used the fee services yet, so if anyone has what are you
impressions?

This is a pretty cool service and IMHO may become a very often used
service...
So I can see a pretty commonly asked question becoming how do people get
listed on the Gourmet Navi service?

Any other impressions?
Zev
