ABSTRACT
NTT DoCoMo has released figures stating its 3G ARPU (Average Revenue per
User) was 10,400 Yen ($77.8) per month from October to December 2001 -
around 25% higher than the 8,500 Yen for the current imode service.
FOMA is the 3G service launched by NTT DoCoMo which enables high bandwidth
connection and mobile video [related item]. Currently most of the FOMA users
(67%) are corporates and the marketing has yet to fully penetrate the
mainstream high street user demographic [related item]. DoCoMo has already
invested 200 billion Yen in the project and expects a further investment of
1Trillion to ensure nationwide capacity by 2004.
