Hi Justin,

Last week I visited a company (http://www.tos.ne.jp/) that provides a
platform for creating personal home pages. According to them the service is
very popular, their service alone has near 2.5M homepages registered (one
user might have several homepages). They said that one reason for the
success is because it is very easy to create an own homepage with their
service. No html knowlegde is needed, but if you know some, the homepage can
be made to look much fancier. The idea is that there are basic information
that can be entered and in addition a selection of functions that can be
chosen, e.g. personal diary, links, photogalary etc. depending on user
preferences.

I haven't personally looked into this area, so I cannot provide very
detailed info on mobile homepages.

The service is called Mahouno i land and their website is
http://ip.tosp.co.jp/ (only in Japanese).

regards,
Nina
