hi,

i bought my au phone at sakuraya at shibuya without a gaijin tourokusho
nor japanese bank account. a visa card/account was enough (the bills get
billed there automatically). i might have
shown them a passport. dont remember.

however, im not sure this is normal practice as i tried earlier at an au
shop and they wouldnt give me a phone without a gaijin tourokusho. and
later when i went to an au shop with my phone to change my plan, they
wouldnt let me change my plan because i didnt have a gaijin tourokusho...
now, how stupid is that? i already had the phone, but i couldnt change my
plan!?

dunno about jphone's, but a friend of mine had au's prepaid and it seemed
pretty lame. especially that he could only send c-mails.

regards, tom
