Yes, I guess it's the same exact difference between visiting a news site and having a ticker application display that site's news. Not a very useful application, in my opinion, at least on a mobile phone, where running Java shortens considerably the phone battery charge. Things would be different, though, if there were some sort of news aggregator, building news from XML feeds. Anyone knows if there's such a thing on mobiles ?
