The other carriers in Japan don't use Openwave.

1. Yes and no. AU used the same company, but at that
time the company was not called Openwave, they were
called Phone.com (and before that they were called
Unwired Planet - they changed their name twice).

2. AU is "just" a brand, not a company - the company is KDDI.

3. KDDI was and probably still is Openwave aka Phone.com aka
Unwired Planet's biggest customer. Without KDDI there
probably would be no Openwave today.

That's ok if you use e "business" site. However, if you use
a consumer site to make money, you better use emoji.
