my current phone (N901S) catches it very fast. often 1 to 2s or less.
But I didn't try totaly destroyed or very dirty qr codes. but I could
scan an qr code in the train on a guys newspaper.

it only fails, if I have not set "macro lens" for my camera. with the
normal lens setting the picture gets so plurry, that the keitai can't
decipher the picture.

if it is scanned, there is no error. normaly those qr codes have enought
error correction to fix these kind of things
