Quick list of some of the major sound file types:
Midi-like: mmf, mid, mld, pmd,...
Wav/Mp3 like: 3gp, amr, mmf, qcp, mp3, mld, pmd....
I'm leaving off the really rare ones.
and some others which I know the format but need to look up the extension (like aac). Unofortunately sometimes (not too common but not rare) the phones have format extension mix matches, (but so did older pcs).
Popularity and which ones are available vary from region to region and carrier to carrier and phone maker to phone maker.
