several members of this list have been wondering about if it's possible to
get some sort of devkit to develop i-applis outside japan, with a phone
that downloads through a cable and so forth.

this is how the situation seems to be... as of today, there is no way of
testing i-applis on actual phones outside japan. none of the phone makers
including sony, panasonic, nec, fujitsu, etc. have authorization to act
like independent entities regarding i-mode phones. as always, things are
controlled by all mighty ntt docomo. it seems that the only way to test
i-applis is to have beta testers armed with 503i phones in japan that can
fetch your i-applis from your server in your home country.

this really sucks and i hope that someone finds a way around this :P and if
someone finds a solution, it would be nice if they posted it here on keitai-l.

(thanks to even at triggerduck for checking this out).
