Is the glass half full or half empty? Daniel Scuka has run into this famous
parable in rather well balanced analysis of one aspect of the Japanese
mobile Internet. Like any successful technology, there are always
challenges and the challenges remaining in the Japanese mobile Internet are
many. These include excessive regulation in the Japanese economy, too many
barriers to entry for firms with new business models, Docomo's excessive
power (a victim of its own success), and others. The people who say that we
should not criticize the Japanese mobile Internet because it is so
successful sound similar to those who created the Internet bubble in the US.
