Nokia have a 8310 (small, FM chip, GPRS, small crap screen) and a 5510 (as
discussed) in the public pipeline, as well as a GPRS version of the 6210
(again, crap screen). The communicator is, politely, a niche product. On the
other hand, Siemens and Ericsson have GPRS handsets out now that are as
desirable as anything Noki has announced.

The 7110 is now two years old. It got very naff very quickly (kids would
shout 'MATRIX' at anyone using one in the street!) It was buggy, bigger than
any other Nokia - and the only advantage was circuit-switched WAP, which
wasn't worth having.

The Ericsson T68 is to die for. It's fabulous. It doesn't photograph well,
but having held one and played with one, my gadget lust went into overdrive.
You get six lines of text, colour, GPRS and Bluetooth, Tri-band and it's the
same size as the Nokia 8210 - but with better styling!! And it hits the
market in November.

Oh, the European operators will refuse to sell single-mode handsets. They
could have launched their networks today with single-modes - the
infrastructure could have been ready. They absolutely insist on dual-mode.
Nokia think that the first dual-mode handsets will leae the factory gate
costing Eu5-600.
