there is a lot going on here; discount coupons, surveys, free samples (from 
regular products to ringing tones) and more interestingly the integration 
of mobile and POS data bases. the latter enables retail outlets to move 
from direct mail to mobile mail campaigns. Key technologies involve reading 
the bar code-based discount coupons with a scanner, comparing the bar-code 
based user ID withe POS data, inserting a device called Xnavi into the 
charger portion of the phone to activates the mail function and thus update 
the mobile mail list, and doing similar things with an infrared link and
