In J2ME, MIDP 1.0 writing the code (for the emulator) is 5% of the
effort.  Getting it to work on the actual phones is 95% of the effort.

Seriously, I agree that design is the biggest part of these projects.
Designing a multiplayer game that works with 6 second latencies is not
easy.
