This pops up now and then on the list ---

1) Symbian apps can't be installed to Vodafone Japan phones directly 
unless they are Symbian signed.
2) You can work around this by 'unsis ing'  the app then manually 
copying it to the MMC.
3) Here's a handy link (w/nice Windoze unsiser) http://www.teamknox.com/
4) The caveat to this is that sometimes apps need to run from the phone 
memory - so you might have some more diddling required to xfer from your 
MMC to the phone memory.
