The CPU may be mostly idle, but in today's power-management-
crazy world, I assume that means it's down during those times, not
drinking juice.  Running some app flat out would, I suspect, run
the battery down pretty fast, though not as fast as transmitting
voice or data does, I suppose.

For those of us who put the phone to cradle at night, it would be
nice to know that we're helping to cure some disease, sequence
some genome, crack strong crypto, or distinguish alien greeting
cards from reflections of 'I love Lucy' re-runs off the outer
cometary halo.
