I will be forever baffled as to why anyone thinks fixed-line Internet usage
has much to do with mobile Internet usage given the following facts:
1) SMS took off in scandinavia in spite of high fixed-line internet usage
2) nobody downloads the most popular mobile internet contents (ringing
tones, screen savers, horoscopes or even weather) on their PCs
3) according to the state of the Internet
(http://usic.wslogic.com/intro.html), japan's fixed-line internet usage was
actually higher than many european countries in mid-2000 but had similar
mobile phone usage.

country fixed-line internet usage mobile phone usage
japan 21% 41%
germany 19% 39%
Italy 16% 44%
france 15% 40%
spain 9% 47%
