BM_1_1. Verizon, Qualcomm launch BREW service in San Diego

Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm yesterday launched the U.S.'s first commercial
BREW-based mobile services in the San Diego area. BREW is Qualcomm's
proprietary mobile platform that allows handsets to display color graphics
and sound over existing cellular networks. This launch is a test for
Qualcomm's new platform, and includes wireless games such as EA Sports Tiger
Woods PGA Tour Golf and JAMDAT Bowling. Verizon subscribers in the San Diego
area whishing to use BREW will need either a Verizon Wireless Z-800 or
Kyocera 30353 handset. Verizon expects to launch BREW nationwide in May of
this year.
