I haven't tried this yet, so this is all based off my memory of reading 
the docs, but...

Yep. Step 1 is setting the LaunchByMail value in your ADF settings.

I don't remember reading that you could used "any". As I recall, you 
set the LaunchByMail ADF value to the domain from where the mail will 
come, e.g. "hottolink.co.jp" .

You need to put a link into the body of the mail, that appears like an 
html hyperlink to the user. If/when the user clicks on the link, the 
appli is launched. You do this by including a specification of the 
display text, appli name appli parameters, etc. in the format they 
specify in the API manual. Kinda like an appli download link for html, 
but different format.

User has to allow launching by mail  in the appli's settings, usually 
done when the appli is downloaded (similar to the "allow tsuushinn" 
setting), but interface and timing differs among makers.
