I agree that technology is a great thing and debating which one is good
and bad and the reasoning is important.

However, saying that... I would have to say the people like Forester and
other (so-called) "Analysts" get very hung up on it. "3G is the next big
thing...", "WiFi is at a dead end..." etc...

What is the point? Surely the most important thing is the delivery of
data regardless of the technology and all the problems that surround it.
Users don't care if it's WiFi or 3G, they don't care if it's Bluetooth
or Bubblegum - users want things to work! They want their data when they
want it and on the device they are using.

Service providers need to step back and stop quoting technology... They
need to make users feel they are getting what they want on a range of
devices.

This is the whole reason WAP failed in Europe. The technology was
promoted but not the point of relevance to the user. Once this little
hill is overcome "Analysts" will start writing sensible reports about
service delivery over technology not technology for the sake of
technology.

Ps. I tend to rant. Apologies ;-)

Is not intended to be a WI-Fi competitor. Looks like Forrester just
does not
believe in WI-FI as an important technology for the future.

We also should read the report directly and not a summary made by a
journalist...
