any handset OS needs to be stretched a lot for the special hardware
platforms and manufacturer features. even Nokia and Ericsson have
headaches customizing the Symbian OS.
good for DoCoMo, at least both Symbian and Linux are far better than
TRON, and MontaVista does look a good replacement of Symbian.
but several years later, when the chipsets evolve and an architecture
begin to dominate, like PCs/PDAs, Microsoft('s shadow) will be back.
no death penalty
