Hi,
My intention inposting is not to inflame or insuniate Japan is inferior in
any way, I was filling in with some information on 3D standards globally.

I don't expect either side to stand still, but equally it's wrong to assume
that any country's handsets will always be better or faster in the same way
that any country cannot be guaranteed to dominate any technology arena for
ever. Look at China - stating late means you can leapfrog generations of
technology. Having legacy requirements can cripple you - backwards
compatibilty will compromise ideal design in many cases.

As for the M3G API - it was designed by game developers, handset
manufacturers and engine developers, including the same Japanese companies
who supply Japan, but also with deployment, portability and speed of
development in mind.

At the end of the day it's a good thing if handsets progress and I'm not
here to gainsay or argue APIs - the market will decide.

Paul

Hello,

There is nothing to "catch up" to. Sure the JSR184/m3g API
is bigger, but that does not mean its better. The API used
here was designed by game developers, for game developers
and feature-wise its a good match for the current
hardware. That is why, like you mentioned, it has become
well established.
In terms of acceptance, its the west that needs to catch
up.
