the procedure I think

(1) take out the battery (never switch it on before this)
(2) put the handset in a refrigerator (freeze to dry) for a day
(3) take it out and hang it out for a night

even it comes back to life, there is still a possibility that
the circuit will get rotten sometime later, if the water did go in.

wrap your handset with a rubber (wipe out the gel) and you can hear
it singing swimming in a toilet. should hold a contest to fast
key-in a message in one breath under the water.
