I think we have talked this over and over.
i-mode has no SMS and has no e-mail (they do have something for FOMA).
i-mode only has an SMTP interface to its awkward i-mode mail/i-shot.
worst possible design you won't find anywhere else, including Japan.
au/KDDI implements the e-mail interface over the air. one of their
strong and weak points (slow session, a couple of seconds longer than
PDC i-mode, as DoCoMo salesmen often like to tell).
you can have SMTP interface for SMS, like Vodafone.jp SkyEmail.
you send an e-mail to Vodafone.jp and they deliver it via SMS, and
it's a free service!
