I can't agree with Dirk more. but these kinds of topics do contribute
to higher network traffic ... entertainment.
btw, there are a lot of technologies developed in the last 50 years
to track a moving target and use a vehicle to deliver a package to it.
it's called missile homing.
for GPS, what's the alternative and who can provide a better service?
many problems with UMTS is they don't use GPS to sync base stations.
