If Macromedia were to get a version of Flash Lite that was Flash 5 (or
better) compatible, history would repeat itself and Flash would do what it
did on web browsers to Java applets.

The problem with MIDP was that they didn't drive the specification with
application requirements and there was no certification process for handset
VM's.

It's not just the differences between the various handsets, it's the stuff
in various VM's that's just BROKEN.

Ideally there are lighter systems that would have been more appropriate.
REBOL is just one example.
