For what it's worth: today I saw 2 schoolgirls desperately
trying to get a cola *and* some CMode points from the CMode
vending machine in Harajuku. CMode pretty much uses the
Mitsubishi Keitai pattern for their scanners...they swiveled
their handset over and over again in front of the scanner,
checked the handset, looked at each other, tried again but
never heard the refreshment promising "beep".

10 minutes of worthless tries later one of the girls kicked
the machine, they turned for a drink to a "normal" vending
machine and disappeared in a shop with the interesting name
"Gothic Lolita".
