I'd like to understand better the technical details behind the iMode billing
model. Specifically, what mechanisms prevent the content provider from
defrauding DoCoMo and the iMode user? (I'm referring to the partner content
sites here.)

Here's what I mean. The way I understand it, a user goes thru the "top menu"
to subscribe to a partner site. The content site then charges a fee to the
subscriber, which is actually collected by DoCoMo (plus 9% which DoCoMo
keeps).

How does DoCoMo know whom to bill for what? Let's suppose it's something
simple, like: the partner sends DoCoMo a list of subscribers to bill each
month.

The problem then would be, what's to prevent a "crooked" partner from
getting DoCoMo to collect fees from, say, 1000 users when the partner really
only has 900 subscribers?

Does DoCoMo prevent this by keeping their own count on which users are
subscribed to which partner sites? Exactly do they do this? That's what I
want to know.

Anybody have any details on how this works?
