Well, I'm talking WML more than WAP here. What exactly does it save
over cHTML?

Not in the very near future. The primary use of HTML is not markup,
but graphic design.

Good. And maybe even regular web sites. As phones get faster and
accept larger pages, using your phone to access "regular" network
data will be more and more practical, though it's never going to
replace your desktop.
