I haven't posted here often since much of the discussion on apps development
is outside of my expertise.
However I do find it interesting that so much interest is devoted on this
tread to the subject of physical design of keitai.

I'm the original co-designer of both StarTac and earlier of MicroTac
clamshell/flip phones for Motorola.
I'd like to dispel some of the notions posted here that either "Oregon clam"
or "US Senator's" ear to mouth dimensions served as
guidelines of my original designs.

Maximum coolness mixed with some practical restrictions were...

<Clamshells are now synonymous of mid or even high-end...

I agree, thanks. Maybe if some of the Motorola's marketing management didn't
try so hard to kill the flip internally, it would still be synonymous with
the company that originally popularized it.
